John Fox Wilkins was born in Montreal. His parents were Robert C Wilkins and Bessie A Wilkins of Farnham. He attested with the 117th Battalion on 24 April 1916. At the time of attestation he was residing in Farnham, Quebec and belonged to the 15th CFA militia. He sailed to England with the 117th Battalion on 14 August 1916.

On 06 January 1917, Lt Wilkins was transferred to the 23rd Reserve Battalion in Shoreham and qualified First Class Instructor in Musketry and Lewis Gun on 15 January.

On 19 March, Lt Wilkins was transferred to the 24th Battalion and landed in France on 22 March. On 06 April Lt Wilkins joined the 24th Battalion in the trenches.

Lt John Fox Wilkins was killed in action on 15 August 1917.
